In creating works in ceramics, one takes clay from the earth, mixes it with water, and forms it into a potentially infinite number of shapes which, in turn, are subjected to great amounts of heat to acquire permanence. These shapes can be utilitarian or sculptural. Either way, they seek attention and hope to give service and pleasure.
